So - many of you are coming to Australia to escape a northern hemisphere winter in February, no? Well, here’s the run down on what you can expect from the locations we will visit (no guarantees of course!):

Sydney (including the Hunter Valley), Albury & Melbourne - generally hot, dry and definitely beach weather (can get as hot as 40°C though is likely to be between 30-35°C. Melbourne has occasionally been referred to as a city of ‘4 seasons in one day’ however in February this does not generally apply and it is often the hottest city in Australia at this time!

Dinner Plain - should be hot, dry and in the range of 20-26°C. Visitors should bring sturdy walking shoes. Be aware that temperatures can plummet unexpectedly at any time of the year in the mountains and this can include snow (!) however in February this is very unlikely. Moral of the story is that it would pay to bring a change of warmer clothes just to be safe!

For more information on weather, check out the Australian Bureau of Meteorology - www.bom.gov.au

The package we are putting together will be ‘all-inclusive’ of accommodation, food, overland travel, activities, entry fees, snacks, equipment and conference overheads. This starts from the moment you register at the ‘muster point’ in Sydney, until we conclude formally in Melbourne a week later. Knowing the capacity of some alumni to enjoy an alcoholic drink, you’ll have to cover this cost yourself but we will make sure water is always available! In addition to covering the above costs, a levy on each package will cover:

  • a contribution to the conference scholarship fund (to provide limited support to those in financial difficulty)
  • a small donation to the StratLeade Network, in order to support future generations of MSLS students

The complete package is currently being worked on and we hope to soon make announcements on the total cost and inclusions.
